Joe
Hi,

I'm trying to purchase your Shield software. I don't yet have a domain. I'm
trying to do some things on my local network before I get involved with the
domain name, VPS hosting, etc. But the purchase/download process won't allow
me to continue without a domain name.

Why do you need the domain? How can I proceed without it?
Alex
Hi Joe,

We need the domain name to validate the license during the installation
process - If you enter "localhost" or something to that effect, it may just
work.

Hi Alex
Unfortunatly it still does not work :(
The registered user was getting an email which was the activation
code but failed to show the base_url but instead showed
[base_url]/login.cgi... etc, i manually changed it and put the base
url in, which now when a new user signs up gets the correct full url
(incidentally all the fields are filled in correctly ie username and
activation code). Even now with the correct url it continues to say ...
Alex Schliker
Can you forward over one of the emails? Having any kind of activation email sent is a good sign – this may not be too big of an issue.
Jav
sure thing,

screen_dump was the activation email (after paying) and screen_dump_2 was
the screen when you try to enter the (full) activation url into a browser. I
have since changed the activation email template instead of the word
[base_url] I've added the actual url as I thought it may be due to clicking
through the email client but still no luck, it continues to display the
don't hack page.

Alex Schliker
I fixed an issue with your cookie settings - .on-lineelectricaltutor.com,
not .www. on-lineelectricaltutor.com

Still looking for causes for worry within Package settings
Alex Schliker
Jav,

Again your account identifier is incorrect:
http://screencast.com/t/Zjg0MjE3N

It needs to be your Paypal email address if you plan on using Paypal. This
is probably causing your issues.
Me
Alex hi,
The account identifier I changed back yesterday to the account
number as this partly worked as I am able to activate accounts
manually but with the email in there i'm unable to do that, I've gone
live with my site and just needed something working but I shall change
it back to the email. (which hopefully should be done in a few mins).
Thanks for continually looking in to this Alex i really appreciate
it.

Jav
Hi, I've been looking at your new product Fantastic Shield, I think it's
just what I need but I'm not that technically minded so wanted to know if
you provide an install solution. My web host is Yahoo and this the link to
my website http://www.on-lineelectricaltutor.com/cgl2/. I think the
software is perfect for people to obtain the Modules that I want to provide
them with and it fits my site like a glove.

If I purchase the product would you help or even do the install for me? I
can give you a temporary username and password so you can do the basic ...
Alex Schliker
Hey Jav,

Happy to assist with installation - there is a fee for installation,
available in the fantasticscripts.com/scriptware control panel. Please
meake sure that your host meets the requirements for the software (most
hosts do!).
Jav
Great thanks for the info Alex, out of interest how much extra for the
install?

Thanks

Jav
Alex Schliker
Not sure, check it out in the control panel. I don't set that price :>
Jav
Alex I'm in need or you expert advice, I'm trying to installed the script
but I'm getting the following error msg.

Couldn't connect to database at config/process.pl line 960.
For help, please send mail to this site's webmaster, giving this error
message and the time and date of the error.

[Sat Dec 12 21:24:03 2009] install.cgi: Couldn't connect to database at
config/process.pl line 960.

I've created the DB and can access it via myphpadmin but can't see what's
stopping it from preceding.

Any ...
Alex Schliker
Sure thing Jav, can you send me a link to your installation script and
information about your database including:

1. Db name

2. Db hostname

3. Db username

4. Db password
Alex Schliker
Looks good to me in terms of settings. I would check
$db="DBI:mysql:$dbname:localhost"; and make sure your hostname for db is
actually localhost. you may need to change it to db.yahoo.net or something:

$db="DBI:mysql:$dbname:db.yahoo.net";

Also double check your database settings server side and send over a
screenshot.
Jav
Thanks for that Alex, I shall pick this up tomorrow morning and let you know
how things are going.

Many thanks
Jav
Jav
Thanks for that Alex all seems to be working now, I just have one other
problem I'm hoping you may be able to shed some light on, my hosting is with
yahoo but they don't allow .htaccess or .ht files to be created, is there an
alterative way of protecting the dir? also just a query for the PayPal
payment I'm in the process of setting that up so hopefully its just a
question of putting my email into the script, once a user registers and is
sent to the payment area and pays what happens after that process? are they ...
Jav
Alex hi, just a follow up on my previous question seeing if you are able to
help me on that...

Alex Schliker
They are taken to Paypal - after they pay, their account is active!
Jav
great stuff thanks Alex and is there anyway round the .ht issue?
Alex Schliker
Not sure, have you asked them to give you extra permissions for htaccess?
Jav
Hi Alex,
I've emailed yahoo about htaccess but I'm pretty sure they don't do it just
wondering if they could be a possible workaround?, I've also got a problem
that the account doesn't become active once payment is made it stays on
pending even though I got the pull down selected to "payment required to
activate" under the 'edit packages' section. The payment side of it works
fine individuals are able to register and make payments, I get a
notification of payment and it stops there the account doesn't become active ...
alex@fantasticscripts.com
I don't think there is a work-around... Unless you do some custom .cgi work where each of your protected pages checks (using .cgi) to see if a user is authenticated. Not sure why account are not getting activated right away - can you send me FTP info to your "authentication" folder?
Jav
nice...

any idea's on the activation stuff Alex?

Jav
Alex Schliker
Will check during the holidays. Should not be a big problem.
Alex Schliker
Sorry about the lag - will jump on this as soon as I have a free minute.

Have a great new year!
Me
Thanks for the update, and you to!
